Summer Canter-Woodwinds (Flutes, Clarinets, Saxophones, Double Reeds)

 

Summer has been playing multiple woodwinds since she started band in 5th grade, starting on clarinet and playing everything from baritone saxophone to sousaphone in ensembles, and finally settling with bassoon and studying under David DeBolt and Mark DeMio. Now pursing a career in instrumental music education at Kent State University, Summer has been teaching private lessons for three years on clarinet, saxophone, and bassoon. She also works and teaches at New Horizons Community Band as the beginning and novice class instructor, a group based in Cuyahoga Falls and North Canton catering to members 55 and over. She also works with many area high school during marching season, running clarinet and sousaphone sectionals at camps. Summer has played in every ensemble at Kent State, and is an active member of the Kent State Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Orchestra and the Kent State University Marching Golden Flashes.
